Every week or so, there's a post concerned about those of us who might be interested in the dark, the taboo, the problematic and/or abusive. So I'm asking the opposite in the hopes of getting a fair discussion going.
For those of you who prefer safer romances with "healthy" relationships or look to romance for comfort, do you ever question/interrogate those interests? Do you think there's anything sticky about your definition of a "strong FMC" or your preference for FMCs that display attributes usually assigned to male characters and masculinity? Is it always necessarily healthier or less concerning when you read more "publicly approved" romance reading material? People often tell us that we can't fully separate fiction and reality - agreed, but I personally think that equating them too closely can also be detrimental.
Interested in your responses.
