Sleeping in a bra?

I’m reading The Wrong Mr. Right by Stephanie Archer and the FMC is in bed about to sleep but is wearing a bra. I’ve noticed that’s a common theme in romance books too.
Do people actually sleep in bras? Like ones with underwire? That sounds so uncomfortable!

I have Fs. I can't sleep without a shirt because I will roll over a nipple in the middle of the night, but never a bra. Even the most comfy of bras is not comfortable enough for me to sleep in.
