I hope I'm not alone when I say that I'm sick of vague trigger warnings. If you're going to use them, go all out or don't put them in at all.
I just read a book because they used TW: Dark Sexual Activities. I went into it thinking "Oh cool, like knotting, bloodplay, knifeplay, asphyxiation or something along those lines"- nope.
Nope nope nope nope nope
Detailed and multiple instances talking about/describing sexual violence in the FMC's past as well as an on page sexual assault AND gruesome talk about the aftermath about how much damage it caused her body.
Please, if you're going to use trigger warnings, go in depth. Being vague helps no one and, in this case, can actually harm people.
Edit: Because a few people have asked, the book is The Beta by Avanne Michaels. It's an Omegaverse Romance, so those of you who know omegaverse can probably see why I went in thinking "Oh, dark sexual activities that are commonplace to the setting (knotting, body betrayal, a little violence, maaaaybe some noncon by the love interests)" only to be surprised by the in depth and on page sexual violence from an unnamed third party.
100% agree. Also authors lazily adding a âif you need trigger warnings you shouldnât be reading this bookâ mention. ID STILL LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IM SIGNING UP FOR!! Dark romance is subjective to everyone, give the reader the details so they can make their own decisions!

Just commented this same thing! Immediately dnfâd a book recently that said âTW: ALL OF THEMâ. Wtf does that mean?? There ended up being one rape scene and it was far from encompassing EVERY trigger possible.
