Howdy fellow skaters.

So heres the story…

I made an online order from a well known skate shop and my order had been sitting at their warehouse as the USPS hasn’t picked up in over a week. The do have a disclaimer about delays when using USPS, I had planned on using the UPS option but the order was made in the wee hours of the night in a typical depression driven online shopping splurge, and I failed to pick the ‘correct’ shipping option. 100% my doing / my mistake. Ive been in contact with their CS folks and they are unwilling to change the shipping method, drop their USPS packages at the post office OR hold it for pick up. We are on the 10th day of it sitting, waiting for a USPS pick up.

I want to support the shop as it’s semi local, I’m in OC they are in LBC. And they give a ton back to the community. Their CS folks have been good and friendly, if frustrating, they seem to be un-empowered, unable and / or unwilling to actually help. The order is for socks and toe stops not anything I need at this point, but I am waiting on those bits to do a little refresh / glow up of my skates... which sadly is part of my self care (trying to give myself little treats or gifts when I have a victory to Highlight the ups rather then focus on the downs)

Anyway I wanted to get the pulse of the community here:

What has your experience been ordering online from small / indie / local (to you) skate shops?

Should I stick to the “big boys of online skate shops” like Derby Warehouse etc for online orders and shop IRL at my “locals”? …Sorta letting each business model do what they are good at…

How would you respond to an email saying “we can’t help you in any way, you have to wait for the pick up.“ ?

How long would you wait before canceling payment and giving up and buying from DW or from Mr Bezos ?
