So I’m a new skater, not new to the skatepark or being a human, and the amount of tribalism I’ve seen during my admittedly short time in the rollerskating community is at odds with the way it’s presented. however I am responsible for my own expectations.
that’s not to say I haven’t met some truely amazing people on 8 wheels either, only to say I have found skateboarders to be much more welcoming and friendly in general. Maybe it’s just a skatepark thing though I don’t park skate on rollerskates, that’s what I have my board for.… or maybe it’s because I’m a white guy in his 30s and I match the skateboarding demographics better.
However shout out to the Bubble Gum Roller Girls in OC. You ladies kick ass, it’s you who got me on 8 wheels!
