The year is 1933 and the Great Depression is in full-swing. Poverty is rampant. Fascism is rising in Europe. To many, the world has become a much darker and more dangerous place.

Dubbed “The Strangest City in America”, New Canaan City is both a technological marvel and an almost dystopian nightmare. Advanced technologies and other scientific innovations are contrasted by constant crime and an ever-growing sense of dread. Those that remained wealthy after the Depression live in luxury while the poor struggle.

After the appearance of a masked vigilante known as the Watchman, several individuals decided to don masks and fight crime and corruption. So-called “masks” are controversial. Some see them as troublemakers while others see them as champions of the oppressed and downtrodden.

While many hate the masks, there is still a need for citizens that will actively solve problems that the police and government won't. This need has led to the rise of “problem-solvers”. These are individuals such as private investigators, hired muscle, and anyone else that makes a living doing what the law can't.

To counter the masks, dastardly criminals and evildoers prowl the streets of New Canaan. Some even adopt personas of their own in an attempt to beat the masks at their own game.

Organized crime is powerful and according to some, the crime families are the real government of the city. Ruthless and efficient, the criminal underworld of New Canaan is not for the meek.

As if there wasn't enough trouble, mad scientists performing strange and unethical experiments have created strange technologies, robots, and unnatural biological monstrosities. Collectively known as “weirds”, genetically engineered creatures, altered humans, and sentient automatons strike fear into the hearts of the citizenry.

Beneath the surface, even stranger happenings occur. Unknown beings lurk in the shadows. Unspeakable horrors slowly and subtly influence the minds of residents and eldritch terrors bide their time, waiting for the chance to emerge and descend the world into unspeakable madness.

Newcomers and residents alike must all make a decision: will they fight against the dark or fall into its cold embrace?

Howdy, y'all! So this server is a passion project for me. I love pulp stories. Hard-boiled detectives, crime, masked crime fighters, weird science, and eldritch terrors are all fascinating to me. So I made this world and then a server for those that would like to play around in this world. We offer:
