Looking to build a world populated by those running from the plugged in, the decay, and the lack of personal connection found in this one. A hippie/anarcho-primitivist sort of community involving casual sex, free use, promiscuity as each member contributes to the group in their own way based on existing skillsets.
Initial prompt below. Not wedded to it, but should give an idea of where it could go.
The decision had been a long time coming for Chris Smith. He'd done all the things he was supposed to do growing up, and it wasn't until later that he realized the world around him was a facade, or at least he felt that way. From school to six years in the Army to being an engineer, he thought he was hitting all the marks of what he was supposed to do. Now, at twenty-six, he'd seen through the decay, devotion to technology, development of AI, and decline and disappearance of things he'd loved.
There had been conversations of what to do, where to go, getting out of it all, but it seemed as though that his friends, family, and confidantes were content to remain plugged in. He'd heard of others breaking away, retreating, going to live in communities deep in the forest, but wasn't sure if those were rumors or had more truth to them. So after months of planning he decided to strike out on his own. Packed up what worldly belongings he thought he needed, some clothes, tools, bushcraft equipment.
He told people he was going for a long hike. Based on what he was loading up, that is exaclty what it looked like. Only Chris new that he was leaving his car, the apartment, and never coming back. He didn't even bring any money with him. So in that early spring, he took his first step into the wilderness. He'd heard of the Paradise, studied the clues to find it, but hadn't known anyone who'd been there. So for all he knew it was a fiction. That said, even if it was, Chris was going to hike into the woods, and if he found nothing, he was going to make his own way.
For days and days he hiked, camped, hunted, and hiked more. For the first week, he would saw signs of civilization, of the decay, but by the tenth day, he truly felt pleasantly lost and any remnant of the world as he used to know it had disappeared. In all directions it was forest. He'd not seen anyting to indicate what may lay ahead, so he set upon finding something more permanent for shelter.
