My work is known throughout the peasantry. I've slain over 80 vampires throughout my time. Because of the necklace of trophies I wear around my neck, the undead even gave me a nickname - The Fangbearer. This summons from a local lord was no different - a local blood-drinker was draining people dry, and it was my job to sort the problem out (after being paid an advance, of course). To avoid a prolonged fight, I scaled the castle it had taken refuge in. Makes no sense to give the beast ample opportunity to prepare, or even to know that I'm coming. I carefully undo the locks on its coffin to discover something I've never seen before - a female vampire! And more than that, she's beautiful. Unlike most vampires, who look like old, decrepit men, this one looks like a young woman. She's wearing a fine brooch and a beautiful dress. I stand there, holding the stake and hammer in my hands like I've done countless times, hesitating to end something so beautiful. Perhaps there's another way? As I contemplate that, I see the vampire slowly opening her eyes to greet the evening...
