Would probably describe myself as a lovable tsundere by day and clumsy femme fatale by night.
So this is my first time posting to this subreddit. I've been exploring my dating life and status for the last few years (I still have a lot more to do) but through my early adulthood, I have noticed something that keeps coming back.
I am a short haired brunette, about 5ft7. I make a lot of effort to dress nicely and wear makeup everyday. Apart from the short hair, I'm incredibly feminine in the way I stand and my recurring compliment is my "elegance". Often being compared to 50s movie stars like Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor.
I've noticed through-out my dating life that I attract men who are usually submissive. As somebody who is pretty "gender-conforming", I always found that to be strange. Apparently my aura reflects dominance and intimidation. I have been trying to build my confidence and self-esteem the last few years, so it could be that.
I guess, the image I like to portray is the femme fatale type. I'm an extrovert who is openly flirtatious and sexual. I have been playing with this look for years but had trouble finding the right kind of people to try it on as I usually get blown off as being -scary-. Hey, some people like it, some people don't.
This week I thought it would be a great idea to take my confidence to the next step and defy conformity: ask a man out instead of waiting around. Well, I've never seen a boy so clumsily embarrassed and shy in my life, and he was 10 years older than me.
He openly described the feeling as being overwhelmingly nervous and couldn't look me straight in the eye.
God. This is when I knew that this was my sort of thing. I have never been so attracted and tense in my life.
Yo. You guys really know how to make a girl feel a certain way.
Sadly, I was rejected. He described me as being too intense and preferring the softer more submissive look (cute, blue eyed, blonds). He also, since then, has been doubling his efforts to look and act traditionally masculine. Sad. Why not be both masculine and reversed?
Are some of you guys really out there? Sick of hearing boys say they love it when girls come up to them and then when we do it, we are basically told that we are aggressive or scary.
Help?
