How to position?

D2 here. I was just wondering what kind of tips/resources for team positioning you guys have. I have really strong mechanics on par with a lot my champ friends, but I can't ever get in a good position to use them. My 1s positioning is alright, but I focus more on ball possession than I do positioning.
