Having trouble with ps4 version switching to home screen during gameplay. Please help :(

As the title says, during matches the game will seemingly at random send me back to the PS home screen. I searched around and other people have had the same issue but I couldn't find a solution anywhere.
At first I thought I was accidentally hitting the home button since it mostly happens during high intensity situations but found that not to be the case as it also sometimes happens when I'm driving straight without any other input.
It also doesnt happen when I use my controller on my steam copy of the game but my laptop is a potato so I only use it when the wife is watching Tv.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
