Did I do the right thing waiting back? Or do I rotate to offense with my tm8?

Tm8 was amazing but after like 10 games they were getting cooked.
Booms the ball into their possession so I waited back…
I wound up blocking an own goal shot from my tm8…
My choice paid off but is it better to go up and challenge instead of playing it safe in this situation?
We still won that game of course
