Rock band 2 lag?

Every song lagas on and off. It's never bothered me because even when it lagged I was on beat.
I have the game installed to hdd
Is this the game itself?
I've had for about 8 months. But this song I just played even with lag didn't give me accuracy like it usually did. Just kept saying i was missing when I was in rhythm with the typically yellow x6 yellow red x1 combos.
