Is a CAPUFE pass required to use the Sentri lane at the Hidalgo crossing?

I heard that in the past a CAPUFE pass was required to use the Sentri lane at the Hidalgo crossing. They haven't been selling the CAPUFE passes for a few months now, so I've been out of luck.
A CBP agent said that it is no longer required to use that lane. Can anyone confirm this?
