There's a lot of hate for this TV show - some of it perhaps justified, a lot of it not - but a lot of the complaints is that the show is boring, or slow. Of course it's slow - we're only 2 episodes into what is a 10-episode season, with like several planned seasons of ONE story - the rise of Mordor and the start of the Second war. The stage needs to be set, the players introduced and the threat to be shown signs of stirring. You can't have the singular threat of the show, exposed and explained in the first episode, otherwise it becomes leaden and boring over the several seasons.
Amazon made a mistake not releasing the entire season all in one go in my opinion - too much of this season will be built around the growing threat, and that doesn't lead itself well to week-to-week showing.
