Last season you have all this tension over her survival.
"Oh my God, she's been shot! Oh no!"
" The volcano erupted! Did Bronwyn die? Will she make it to the camp?"
But then RoP killed her off-screen.
I know the actress left, but that doesn't necessarily mean the character needed to die. Was this a decision she had made prior to the release of the show or did she see the reviews and go "yikes, I'm out"?
If the former, I think the writers should kill her off at the end of S1. If you're going the "oh, it was the poison arrow" route (something Arondir should probably have known about), instead of having her act hale and hearty, have her struggle to protect her people in the aftermath of the eruption. Have her strive to keep her people safe when she's neglecting her own wounds. Portraying Bronwyn as selfless would have gone a long way to making her death feel weighty and tragic.
If the latter, they should have committed to the precedent they set and recast the actress. Have her arc deal with her being put in a place of leadership looking after her refugees. (The lack of follow-through is something i dislike about bringing Poppy back as well)
How am I supposed to feel attached to a character if they're just going to be erased unceremoniously?
What are your thoughts?
EDIT: I know no one REALLY cares about Bronwyn. I'm just trying to meet the show on its own terms. The whole series really needed more time to be thought out properly before committing pen to paper.
