I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, I’m the stereotypical obese white American. My whole life I’ve only really ever seen exercise as a punishment, whether because my mom went on a health kick I didn’t care about, or my dad was coaching basketball (the only sport I really liked) and living vicariously through his teenage son. Ever since I got an ounce of freedom in college I’ve slacked off so much, gaining almost 100 pounds over 4 years.
And I’ve been miserable. I don’t like looking in the mirror in the morning, and don’t have the confidence to ever go out in public for fear of people being judgemental. So when I heard of RFA it sounded like a good idea! I get to play a jrpg, my favorite genre, but this time I’M the protagonist!
Im now about 2 months in, level 70, and loving every minute. Yeah I’m sore and tired after, but my body is already feeling stronger and moving better. Then just recently I stumbled onto this sub, and found a community as welcoming and supportive as the game itself. So thank you Nintendo, Ring, and all of you. Exercise really can be fun, and I can’t wait to hit the “gym” today!
