Am I the only one who was confused about ratio in continuous battles?

I failed the same continuous battle 3 times before realising that the ratio is not based off how effective the round is (that is, if your attack destroys the enemy) but on how well you perform each exercise. Basically I was trying to destroy the enemy in as little rounds as possible because I thought that was how the ratio was calculated. I feel dumb now haha. Plus side is that I levelled up quite a bit!
