I've seen several posts of people showing significant changes within about a month. I've been playing for 30 minutes (1 real-time hour) a day since april/may, have been eating fewer calories over the past month and have shown no differences. What could I be doing wrong?
The answer is you need to be able to accurately estimate the amount of calories you're eating compared to what you're burning.
I recommend an app like MyFitnessPal (it's free) to track EVERYTHING that you eat - at least for the first little bit. It'll also show you how much you need to be eating in terms of calories to lose weight.
You can be eating 'healthy' and eating 'better', but still be eating more calories than you're burning.
In my opinion, exercise is actually not the best way to really shift a ton of weight by itself. For example, I did a pretty intense workout this morning with Ring Fit, which will do wonders for my health since I don't exercise. I was exhausted by the end of it.
In terms of weight loss alone though, I burnt off... 150 calories. That's a breakfast bar. So if you can control you're eating, the exercise is a great bonus, but probably won't be the only thing you need to do.
I lost 30 pounds last year by just eating less, I didn't exercise any more than usual. It really is just about calories. All the fancy diets just boil down to calories.
