PSA: Wealth-independent progress is a thing

Post Body

Hi all. I was browsing Reddit while on my IRL throne (in the bathroom) as one is wont to do. Upon landing in a somewhat popular Rimworld thread, I have noticed some people complaining about the wealth system. It's not the first time I see this, either.

I have no idea when, but at some point during development a custom difficulty setting was introduced: wealth-independent progress.

What it means is that instead of having raid sizes based on how much wealth you own, it's based on how many years your colony has been alive for. So to speak. You can also customize the amount of years it takes before the maximum difficulty is reached (I go for 5 to 8, depending on how difficult I want it to be).

This comes with its own set of benefits and challenges. It's easier to succeed: you can accumulate as much stuff as you want, including statues and decorations for those sweet, sweet morale bonuses. However, should you have your base nearly wiped out, it's going to be much harder to come back since even if 80% of your paws are dead and the remaining 20 are incapable of fighting, the next raid is likely going to be bigger than the last one.

Hope this helps some of you. Good luck!
