Holy shit.
I started off pretty well, in a cool location. Nearby geothermal vent. Natural chokepoint for easier security. Slowly, I built up my settlement, preparing defenses, stockpiling food. I doubled my population to six colonists, and things were going pretty well. I could handle the raids the game was throwing at me so far..
Then winter came.
My food supply ran low, to the point that colonists were starving. A turret breaks down. One raid leaves me slightly overwhelmed, injuring many colonists, but I manage to fend them off.
I was still feeling pretty confident, thinking to myself, no biggie, I can do this. I've never tried cannibalism until this point, and from this subreddit I thought maybe I could handle it since my colonists were starving...
Oops. Mental breakdowns everywhere. As if being injured wasn't enough, I guess eating the raw flesh of your enemies doesn't really help. Woopsies.
One colonist goes on a rampage. I send two colonists to beat him back to his senses. Then out of nowhere, a poison ship lands. Great. Knowing that I can't leave that for long or else everyone will be driven insane even more, I send three colonists to the ship. I know at this point I haven't gone too far into the game to have the ship spawn a sizable amount, so I thought I could handle it with a bit of micromanaging here and there.
Nope. Two colonists shot dead by a minigun. One collapses. After having won that battle, the mechanoid starts toward my base. It wreaks havoc. The remaining three die defending the site, leaving 5 colonists dead and one colonist left for dead near the poison ship part. He was freezing, his friends dead around him, suffering from wounds caused by his minigun. He just ate raw human meat...
.. and he doesn't have an impressive bedroom.
I knew it was going to be over soon enough. At this point I was just waiting for the last guy to die.
Then hope came. By the name of a wandering optimistic gay teenage boy named McJane.
He joins the colony, picks up a pistol and goes to the mechanoid. McJane hides behind a barrack until the pet dromedary distracts the mechanoid long enough for McJane to kill it.
Then.. a hive infestation appeared in my freezer. I quickly crank down the temperature and send McJane to kill the bugs.
At this point, the last guy, named White, was still lying near the ship part, sleeping because he collapsed from exhaustion. McJane makes short work of the ship part, and rescues White. Just as he laid the wounded man down, a distress message appears. A woman by the name of Roughchild fleeing from pirates.
McJane then sets up his one-man-and-the-last-working-turret defense to greet the incoming guests.
That was a few days ago.
Today, three colonists live in the ruins of a former colony, working to repair and re-establish it to its former glory.
P.S. There's a love triangle currently going on where McJane keeps hitting on White, and White is in love with Roughchild, who hates men.
