Something I've noticed while playing is that attacking broken colonists to the point of incapacitation means that they can be rescued rather than arrested - no need to imprison them, and they return to the colony at neutral mood. The only real risk is that the target may die from being injured, but unarmed melee seems to work fine (sniper rifles are right out).
The reason this works, as far as I can tell, is that broken colonists are still colonists, so incapacitating them makes the game think that they're just injured (overriding the "brokenness"). If this is intended behavior - and it seems reasonable in the sense that you're beating the sense back into them - it would be nice to see a stun gun of some sort as a melee weapon as part of the base game. Here's how I think such a weapon could work:
- Melee or short range ranged weapon
- Low (<20%, maybe less) chance to incapacitate target
- Chance to deal low damage as burn
- Low-medium rate of fire
It could be used as an offensive weapon (for getting up close and incapacitating either high-threat targets or potentially good captives), or a defensive weapon (the aforementioned method of treating broken colonists).
