MDC. We have all seen the definition in the book. Mega damage capacity. Like it or hate it.

MDC: Multi Dimensional Composite

SDC: Single Dimensional Composite.

MDC items existing in multiple dimensions at the same time are unable to be damaged by SDC items. MDC energy attacks also exist in multiple dimensions as well. These dimensions are really tiny.

This also explains the G.I. Joe rule. When the MDC item is destroyed, the energy holding the composite together is released. This release absorbs all the incoming energy, leaving the target in their underwear.
