Life seems like a roller coaster for most of us at times by throwing us into curves, loops and drops that were unexpected and out of the blue. Families who visit Give Kids the World Village (GKTW) are all too familiar with these ups and downs owing to constantly dealing with acute illness and having to sacrifice fun activities for their sick children and siblings.

Throughout 2023 approximately 100 ACE members, representing at least 15 different regions, chose to run or walk a few laps, secure a lap bar, or spend a couple hours scooping ice cream or operating a ride in support of these brave families.

ACE Cares partnered with GKTW in fundraising activities to garner over $22,000 supporting its mission to provide cost-free week-long respite vacations for children struggling through chronic illnesses.

In February, three brave souls donned their outdoor gear to complete the Gingerbread Run: Valentine’s Day Edition event. During the summer months, members participated in park sponsored Coasting for Kids events around the country. ACE Cares teams were honored by being the top fundraising team at 12 of the 14 events during the campaign. Additionally, the ACE Cares committee collaborated with ACE Western PA region and Waldameer Park in Erie, PA, for an annual “Ice Cream for Breakfast” experience during their August regional event. In November, several of the IAAPA team members took the opportunity to share some of their time with the families and donors of the Village by volunteering to cover a shift or two around the property. Everyone who participated in these events came away from them knowing they helped make a difference by helping bring happiness to burdened families.

During 2024, ACE Cares and GKTW will continue to partner in these events and are discussing other opportunities in which ACE members can get involved in supporting this important amusement industry partner.
