Any way to change the list of suggested standard directories? (Android)
Post Body

NOT the directory for each file category (BIOS, Downloads, etc.), I know how to do that.

However, when you want to file browse for anything in RetroArch, including when you want to change any of the directories under "Directory" settings, it gives you a list with standard directories that (I suppose) exist on every Android device:

  • /storage/emulated/0/RetroArch
  • /storage/emulated/0/
  • /storage
  • /
  • etc.

Now the problem here is: on Android 11 the last two paths require root permissions to even view the content of. RetroArch doesn't have root permissions, hence trying to open those directories results in an error.

Furthermore I have all my emulation stuff on my external SD. The path of my external SD is /storage/C016-1B1C/. You see what the issue is? As it stands there is absolutely no way to browse that path. That's because the parent directory requires root permissions, so you cannot see the mount directory of the SD card in RetroArch's file browser if you go to /storage/, and hence cannot open it.

The only workaround I know is to edit the config file directly, and use a text editor to change the path of each category to point to the SD card.

RetroArch asks for external storage permissions after install, so it can WRITE to the SD card, but it cannot browse it by default.

So is there some obscure way to change the list of suggested directories that is initially shown whenever you browse for anything, so I can add the SD card's path to it and save me a lot of future headaches, or is that part hardcoded?
