Retroarch not saving settings - controller config for port 1?

Post Body

I'm running a fairly recent Android nightly from five days ago, sideloaded via APK. In the past, Retroarch would autodetect configs for any controller I used and they would just work, but on the current build I have to remap the port 1 controls every time I use a different gamepad.

I periodically swap between a PS3 controller (wired), 8BitDo Ultimate (wired), and Xbox Series X controller (Bluetooth), and if I change controllers, retroarch doesn't detect the proper inputs. B (bottom) and A (right) work in the menu, and the left stick works, and the click sticks work, so interface stuff is fine, but port 1 controls get blown up and I have to remap all controls if I want to play a game with a different controller.

I've saved separate configurations to manually load as a workaround, but I can't figure out why it doesn't autodetect the controller and inputs like it did on previous builds. I think last time it worked properly was around 1.12 or 1.13.

I'm noticing something similar with core overrides, it doesn't seem to be properly saving them for shaders and settings, but if I save the overall configuration at the main menu, it keeps that, along with whatever was loaded at the time.

It's possible I'm doing something wrong, but I've been using Retroarch a long time and these settings previously worked fine between 1.9 and 1.12, and maybe 1.13. Not sure if it's me or the app.
