I'm 23 and I was diagnosed with RP at 18. Since then my mental health has been atrocious and I've been terrified. My vision is still ok to drive in the day but over the years it has gotten worse. I recently graduated with my honours. 4 Graduates were blind. 2 were master degree Graduates. (There was also one guy with several cerebral palsy who graduated with his masters in political science. He can only type with 1 finger !)
I felt a wave of optimism. Here were people my age who were legally blind and were out here celebrating these amazing achievements. Yes it may have been harder but they did it. And to be honest I don't go to the fanciest most well run university. It's shabby, not that well maintained, administration is super disorganized and lecture halls overflow due to the big student to lecturer ration. Yet they did it. The one guy is already in a PhD program.
I'm so happy. I feel like I will be ok
