The building that I am currently an RA in has been having some issues with bathroom cleanliness. The building is an all-male, freshmen residence hall (which in itself leads to bathroom problems), but this is getting ridiculous. There is either a single resident doing this or multiple residents, but we have no idea. We have toilets that have food and human waste in them, we have people leaving clumps of paper towels in the showers, trash literally everywhere but the trashcans, they have stolen the handles off of the shower doors, poured BBQ sauce on people while they are showering and all around disgusting bathroom conditions. According to our Res Life director we aren't allowed to close bathrooms down (we did it twice and got in trouble both times), we can't put cameras in there because of privacy issues. Our RLC has made it so that we can fine the people on the floor that this was happening on to begin with, but now they have moved to doing it on different floors. Our on-call rounds have been extended later into the night to see if we can catch them, but there's not much else that we have been able to do. Our custodial staff doesn't get paid enough to deal with this, nor should they HAVE to deal with this. We have a staff meeting tonight to see what all we can come up with so, any and all advice or solutions are accepted!
