Resident swapping: realistic or no?

Post Body

Current FM PGY-1 via SOAP. Love my program, but really dislike the chronic disease management, motivational conversation, and general bread and butter of clinic.

Anyone have advice or success stories regarding a swap? Unsure how to approach it and didn’t want to bring it up with my PD before I understood the process or had a swap lined up.

Interested in possibly swapping into derm (great mix of clinic and procedures and interesting pathology), ortho (was originally ortho applicant, miss it a lot), or anesthesia (gets me a taste of the OR and possibility for ICU/CCU work)

Edit: not a shitpost just being 99.99% unrealistic lmao

Edit2: I guess for anyone out in FM working rn, what do job prospects look like? What exactly can I do out of FM residency? What would be a job that could can scratch my itch for procedures and keep things relatively efficient otherwise, because ya boy cannot keep doing these 1 hour 15 comorbidity appointments lol
