I was seriously expecting William Knifeman to drop that he’d disappeared mid season to help lead Bear to Maximus and heal a generational rift in the community, maybe even that it was the reason he came to Bear in the first place. I think William’s guiding of Bear to manhood is so central to the story that it would have tied the entire series together perfectly, really connected the elder generation of Rez Dogs (Maximus and crew) to the new, and made the role of the various spirits throughout the series feel more otherworldly and significant.

I feel like it’s a missed opportunity that could have really brought the series full circle and put the finale into Breaking Bad or Friday Night Lights territory.
