So I woke up last night (9/17/2024) to get ready to go to work and on my door is a ārent increaseā letter. Said letter states Effective 9/1/2024 rent is increasing from $xxx to $xxx. āThank Biden for Rent Increase!ā Now, I live in Arizona which does have good renters laws and states rent increases must be given with 30 days notice. My rent is due on the 27th of the month, meaning Iām only receiving this notice 10 days prior to rent being due. Looking around online, it says my rent increase isnāt valid until next month, due to rental increase notices not being valid retroactively, so if my landlord tries to evict me for paying my original rent amount this month, what recourse do I have? My rental agreement is month to month by the way.
