How to be safe before my house is re-wired.
Post Body

I have recently bought my first home and it needs a fair bit of renovation. Whilst part of the wiring is modern, it's been recommended that I get the whole place re-wired, as there are only two breakers for the whole (100m2) place. According to the electrician the wiring isn't ancient, but still needs re-done. The previous owners were using the electricity as is, but don't appear to have many appliances apart from a couple of fridges, the water heater, a TV and lamps (it's an old house in the french countryside). The heating is wood burners.

There is currently a long waiting list for basically every professional in my area, as in more than six months. Though I'm aware that it could be dangerous to plug everything in and live as normal, it would be really great if I could at least be camping out there in the meantime and be able to use a laptop, fridge, washing machine and some power tools so that I can get started on the other renovations, without worrying about blowing something up or my house going on fire.

Is there anything that I can do to protect myself/my appliances apart from just not living there? A friend recently mentioned something about plug adapters/extension leads with circuit breakers in them. Would it be worth me looking into something like that?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
