Cat urine in hardwood floor
Post Body

We had rented a house to a relative, gave permission for cats but required that they clean up after. Long story short, they didn’t.

We had to rip out the carpeting, and had a professional come in and sand the floors, stain, and seal them. Worked great everywhere except for one spot in the room the cats were in. We are kinda at a loss on what to do at this point short of tearing out the floor. House built in mid 50’s by wife’s father, now passed, so we are trying hard to keep as much of the original work as possible.

Have an ionizer in the room specifically made for cat urine, but isn’t helping much.

Is there anything that might help draw more out through the stained and sealed wood? I’m guessing it’s into the subfloor where the sand and seal didn’t reach, not sure what we can get down into the cracks that may help and not ruin the stain.

Pic is of floor before staining.
