Unfinished walkout basement needs to become closer to these inspiration photos. What should I NOT do?
Post Body

For context, planning on white walls, warmth from hardwood floors and thin "beams" on ceiling. Windows will be replaced with larger, one becomes a door. Cabinets will be the same wood (white oak), black metal accents. Black cabinets in master closet. (NO black tile, but im not completely against a hex).

I have colorful artwork and colorful furniture (midmod), so I'd like to have the setting more calm and natural, so the artwork adds most of the color.

I'd like the space to feel calm, timeless, and let the personality be in the art and furniture.
