[Recommendation] Rugged smaller flieger or field watch?

Hey lads, I am saving up for my first good quality diver. In the meantime, I want to have something rugged, easy to wear and affordable for my casual daily driver.
I am looking at either a pilot or field watch with:
-38mm or less diameter
-simple dial layout
-rugged looking
-can be either quartz or auto
-if it comes in black pvd its even better
-under $300
So far something like the San Martin sterile pilot watch been what I'm looking at
