Hey all! So I am taking a church history course and I have to write a biographical research paper on an important figure in the church from the time of the reformation to the present. Here is the relevant section from the syllabus:
an overview study of a particular person who played a prominent role in the history of the Christian church beginning with the Reformation (1500 AD) up to the modern era... no less than ten (10) secondary sources (to pass, not excel), excluding the Bible and any required reading for this class, and must interact with at least one (1), primary source penned by the historic figure (though more is preferable).
I want to avoid doing the big figures like Luther, Zwingli, Calvin. I have been doing some preliminary research to try and land on someone. I am interested in my Baptist heritage, but I have struggled to find a lot of material for a few of those figures like Nehemiah Coxe. Right now I am circling around Benjamin Keach because of his influence in Reformed Baptist life with his catechism, covenant theology, and practice and singing hymns (I have managed to find some sources for him). But I am curious if there is another figure who would be interesting to research and write on. It doesn't have to be a Baptist!
One thought that I have is to do a different take on the subject and research a figure who has had a negative impact on the church, but I'm not sure who that would be.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!
