Fellow referees (this one is aimed particularly at those in the USA),
For reasons I can't explain, after a 1-year break due to the pandemic, I've started to get heat rash under my socks (the standard American two-stripe socks). This hasn't happened in my previous ~20 years reffing career, either in the US or in Britain. I've tried both OSI expensive socks and the cheaper knockoffs, but it seems to be a problem as long as the ambient temperature is over 75F. It's not as if (as in England) I can find many vendors of plain black socks since they need to be the weird (and unnecessary) thin/thick mid-calf stripes. Why we don't just wear plain black socks (and kits) like the rest of the world has always puzzled me (esp, after my time officiating in the London and Hampshire FAs while I was on a work project/in grad school, respectively), but that's just a complicating factor here. Is there some high-end version of our goofy socks that I might try so that I don't look like I've got a rash of questionable provenance? Thanks in advance to anyone who has any suggestions.
