Super Green Question - Digitizing old reel to reel
Post Body

Hey Reel-y cool people ;)

Was helping to clean out my father-in-law's garage and came across two boxes of old audio reel to reel stuff. He didn't ask me to, but in the interest of making in-law points, I thought it would be a fun project to transfer them to digital for both easy searching and for cataloguing, and give it to hime for Christmas. I think he was the "DJ" on these recordings.

I know that I can send them off, but I though it fun to make a project out of it. So the questions (if these are answered elsewhere on the sub, please let me know!!)

What's the best/easiest way to get these to digital, can I do it with a reel to reel (I have yet to buy/find one), simple audio-out to audio-in, then somehow usb that into my Garageband?

What am I looking at for a reasonable set up that may not be SUPER hifi, but won't be potato quality?

I'm an Apple guy, and have played with Garageband for fun in the past, if that helps on the software side?

Any and all advice and/or mistakes not to make are appreciated !

Thanks ahead of time!!
