{Posted this in r/saltwater but was told id have a better chance at getting some good advice here ^ }
I'm a 20yr old Female hobbyist, My 45yr old Dad and i have been sucked into the world of Reef Tanks for a while now, and we had a few questions. 1) I fully intend to own my own saltwater store in the next 2-5 years, and would love any advice anyone can give me. Google is proving very annoying at the moment. 2) i would love to start my own frag tanks BEFORE my business is started, because i like to be prepared, so any advice on that is also welcome, such as design, set up, and popular corals i should look for to grow! 3) any other information anyone would like to give is always welcome!! A bit of background on us and what we do, our LFS has used my dads tech expertise for their lighting and electrical, in exchange we get discounted frags, spare parts, etc. Nothing extravagent, but we've turned a pet project into something great. Our LFS has started giving us random frags of theirs that are dying or on their way to being unfit for any tank. My dad and i nurse these frags back to health and watch them thrive in our tank, then trade frags back to the shop from their original that has turned into a colony. We've migrated through polyps and different corals, and are very happy to keep learning and expanding our collection. WE have a 60 gal main tank with a assorted collection of acans, polyps, duncans, frogspawn and more (ill post up pictures since im not 100% on most of the names //^ i just keep them healthy and happy) WE are converting a 120gal bow front into a tank fit for life, its a bare bone work in progress atm, and have a 40 gal quarantine tank. Our fish consist of 1 Tomato clown, a Brittle star, 3 clownfish (an established female and two males) a foxfaced rabbitfish, a yellow tang, pistol shrimp, banded coral shrimp, and a sally crab (im not sure on the name of that one its new lol) along with an assortment of gobis. We are very proud of our crazy collection, so i hope you enjoy the pictures and thank you for taking the time to read!
