Setting RS Standard as default new material in C4D?
Post Body
When I hit the plus to create a new material, or do so from the menu, I want a RS Standard. Nothing else.
Any way to set RS Standard as the default?
Edit: So, as of 2023.1.3, this is the default, assuming:
- Redshift is your rendering engine (duh).
- In Edit > Preferences > Material, you have Default Material set to Auto. I had this set to Standard, which is incorrect. That's referring to the C4D Standard material, which is not what you want. Found the helpful info here.

Standard is RS's latest and greatest shader. I believe it's their recommended one (which is weird why it's not invoked by default).
Has more controls and the Random Walk SSS which is fast, easy, and pretty!
