Taking the water marble plunge.

A few years ago, when I was much less experienced and patient with my nails, I tried to do water marbling and it was an absolute nightmare. It didn't look good at all, I though I was just wasting nail polish, and of course the cleanup was no picnic.
But now, I think I am ready to try once again. Thus, would you ladies & gents mind sharing your best tips and tricks with me? I really want to be able to do this. Thanks in advance!
