So, possibly pertinent info: first I'm a guy, I live in a cold climate and I don't regularly moisturize. I've been painting my toes sporadically for a couple of years but my hands only since the summer and near-constantly. I bought some vitamin-e gel and recently a cuticle/nail oil partly because of what is happening to the tips of some fingers chipping.
90% of the time I used polish I didn't have a base coat or a uv light (I'm learning....) but both of those changed recently, and I received some amazing glass files from my wife at Christmas.
I'm nit sure what is causing some of these layered chips in my nails, and if the oil/vitamin e is the best way to handle it, if the gels could be partly at fault or something else, but I'd like to know so that I cane take proper measures going forward.
