I’m a professional artist (and avid DIY-er) and was excited to give gel a shot, I got an Amazon light and beetles gels. They had good reviews so I figured they couldn’t hurt. I finished a set with really good results(or so I thought). A tiny bit got on my cuticles but I figured it wasn’t a big deal. I’d had professional gel manicures in the past and didn’t think to question the safety.
Welp, I found this subreddit, read through the gel posts and quickly learned my lesson. I’m switching to madam glam and going to be much more careful about my cuticles going forward. Thank you all for your service 🫡 no HEMA allergy for this girl.
For sure. But I have anecdotally never heard of someone developing such an allergy from using nail polish. And even if it happens, it must be so rare if you consider the popularity of products like Seche Vite among polish enthusiasts who use it often

If it’s the post I’m thinking about, that person was using a builder gel underneath their lacquer manicures and very possibly over-filing with a drill. They didn’t disclose that in their first post 🤦♀️ but I would bet money that their allergy was caused by the gel and not regular lacquer or even toluene.
