Many Reddit alternatives are only marginally different with no call to action beyond --> free speech here! <--
, or are trying to be too clever with overly complex p2p protocols. I'm hoping to inject some fresh (and sometimes old) ideas. I've only been working on this for a few months, but here are the highlights:
- It has an easy-to-use web portal, as well as a custom terminal client for the power users
- You can embed ANSI art and MIDI music directly in posts (it has a built-in synthesizer)
- Logins are completely public key based; no passwords, email verification, captchas, or other nonsense
- The board is stored in a git repo, so you can browse it completely offline
The last point also means it's totally transparent and easy to re-host if you disagree with my moderation. Deleted posts are still in the git history, and if my entire server is censored, other people still have an offline copy and can put it somewhere else. The server and terminal client are open source.
