I don't know where to post this so here goes; What is happening in Gaza?

I am truly out of the loop on all events although from an outsiders perspective and a person who doesn't consume news from media outlets (only what I see in passing) - Am I correct in saying Jewish people are the perpetrators of a genocide right now? That's what the Australian media outlets seem to be peddling, are they doing the very thing that was done to them 80 years ago?
I really don't understand and I'd like some non biased opinions on what is happening. Thanks.
