Does size matter?

As a trans ftm person, I’m still learning what “sizes” look like on a cis male. I’d like to find a few that would let me literally measure their dick (for research of course 😌😅😏).
My only concern is, most guys seem really sensitive about their size, unless they are above average.
Is there a way to initiate the inquiry without offending or making it awkward? How would you want it presented to you if you were asked?
