So I bought some amber harness IRs in store 3 weeks ago. After wearing them for about a week and a half I realized they were too big so I went back to try on a half size smaller (was 10.5D on brannock, initially fitted for a 10D during my first visit, re-fitted for a 9.5D). Well the only 9.5D in amber they had in store looked like it had been tried on a lot (they almost looked pre-owned) so they shipped a pair to me from the factory. Well I get them and the cap toes are a significant difference in length and the left boot feels much tighter in the ball of the foot. It even looks thinner. The cap toe issue is so noticeable that it’s borderline humorous. The right boot also has (what looks like) dye spots on the cap toe. I know these are a “work heritage boot” but for $330 and being a USA crafted boot I expect at least an acceptable level of quality and QC. These would easily qualify as seconds IMO. These are my first pair of red wings and I’m a bit disappointed. Its 9:30pm on the east coast and I’m going to reach out to them tomorrow. I have heard great things about their customer service and I am hopeful they will make this right.
