For those having trouble accessing the change appearance menu

Be in a regular free roam session. From there, quick join an elimination series. It doesn’t matter if you join a lobby or a game in progress, once you load up quit from the elimination series to go back into a free roam session. Once loaded into free roam, make your way to camp and rest at your camp fire. Once resting, access the change appearance menu from the player menu and you should be able to change your appearance with no problem!
