So how do you say thank you?

How do you show you really mean it

Can I kiss your cheek as I say the words

Should I even show how much your gift touched me

I want you to think me polite

I want you to think I'm grateful

Words on a slip of paper

Or a silver screen

They can't convey it

Not the ache I felt when I opened it

Not the trust I felt as I knew you had been thinking of me

Only my voice can say what my heart felt

That's why an apology must be heartfelt

So why not a thank you too?

My heart was truly in the kiss I gave

The thank you the love it betrayed

You didn't have to.......I know

You shouldn't have.......just for me

You gave it, to me though anyway

Without knowing if I'd accept

You gave me the gift of friendship

Without knowing I was impressed

I thank you from my deepest place

The place I hide from most

I thank you for your care of me

A guardian more than a host

I loved your gift it true to say

The way it helped me cope

The thank you that I send with love

Will mean so much more I hope. X
