Would the whole match have been as intensely and awesomely animated as the movie if the anime in the 90s fully adapted the whole manga?

My thoughts: The anime had a bit stiff animation but it had charm and heart. The movie obviously had the better animation but i think the movie animation style only worked best on the matches cause my only nitpick with it is that the characters don't turn into chibi when in the middle of their shenanigans. But overall the animation was solid. What do you guys think? How would these best and intense moments would have looked if it had been actually made back in the 90s?
